There was a sheikh in the kitchen. The sheikh was eating oatmeal with Lyles Golden Syrup.
``Who are you?'' asked Bobby. The sheikh looked at him through his sunglasses and said nothing. Bobby went out into the garden and wouldn't come back in the house.
``Bobby Bobby,'' his mom said, ``don't you recognize your dad?'' The sheikh came into the garden without his beard and sunglasses.
``Its me, Bobby, I'm in the fancy dress contest at the fete today.'' Bobby didn't say a word.
Later, when Bobby was in London with his mom he thought he saw his dad on the street and he ran across traffic to grab the man's hand.
``Which child is this?'' the man asked his aide.
``Sir, it is your son from the woman Riana.''
The aide did not wish to appear uninformed. Bobby didn't say a word.
So Bobby accompanied the sheikh to his accommodation on the two top floors of a splendid hotel and Bobby joined the ladies on the lower floor. He didn't say a word. They fed him grapes and slices of peeled apples.
Bobby's mom went straight to the police. A government man said it was a touchy situation.
When Riana returned from Harrods she insisted the boy was not hers, but no one did anything. Bobby said nothing. He went looking for a bathroom. He found the fire stairs and he pissed right down them. Then he went down all the stairs which took a long time. He went all the way down to the kitchens and someone set him on a chair and gave him a slice from a gateau d'orange that had come out lop sided.
Bobby slipped out by a loading dock and saw the buses going by. He saw the right number and he got on the bus but it was going the wrong way. The driver let him stay on and go all the way back. When he saw the church and the grocery store he knew he was home and he got off the bus and started to cry. He couldn't remember where his house was. He stood outside Tesco and shut his eyes and tried to remember which way they turned when they went home from the store. Then he saw it in his head, just like on TV and he followed the picture in his head and there was his house.
There were two police cars outside. They asked him a whole lot of questions. Bobby sat on the couch and watched Teletubbies.
He didn't say a word.
